For small and mid-sized businesses, the answer is rarely to simply buy a faster package. Speed matters, but a dependable service also needs sensible network design, suitable hardware, visibility of faults and a backup plan when the primary line fails.

Start by finding the real source of the problem

Before changing providers or replacing equipment, look at the pattern. Does the problem affect everyone in the office or only people using Wi-Fi? Does it happen at the same time each day? Are cloud applications slow while ordinary websites load normally? These details point to different causes.
